Expressions of interest are sought from clubs based in Northland to host the New Zealand International Optimist Dinghy Nationals to be held approximately 18-22 April, 2014. This highly prestigious event is one of the largest national sailing competitions held in New Zealand, usually attracting around 300 young sailors, along with their families.
The Whangarei Cruising Club Inc. has four divisions - keeler, trailer yacht, centreboard and launch.
Taipa Sailing Club is a family friendly club that first started in between 1952 – 1953 dinghy sailing in the semi sheltered waters of Doubless Bay. Sailing happens every Saturday year round. All year in the afternoons is club racing for all classes and comers, 1.30 pm on water start. In the ‘warmer’ half of the year we run morning Level 1 and 2 sessions for children and adults from 9.00 am.
